Frequently asked questions

Find quick answers to common questions about choosing, using, and buying BEHR paint.

Why did BEHR select Grounded for Color of the Year?
BEHR selected Grounded as the 2027 Color of the Year because it reflects a shift in how people want their homes to feel – rooted, lived-in, and real. It transcends aesthetics, creating spaces that invite a true sense of ease and retreat.

The blend of mossy green and olive with subtle brown undertones create a natural sense of balance, bringing a calm atmosphere to any space. As a highly versatile hue, Grounded works seamlessly across both interiors and exteriors, adding timeless character while adapting to its surroundings. Its dimensional quality evolves throughout the day, anchoring bright living spaces and creating a cocoon-like feel in rooms designed for rest and reflection.
What colors does Grounded pair well with?
Grounded pairs well with a range of colors from the BEHR® 2027 Color Trends Palette, a thoughtfully curated collection that celebrates natural beauty and timeless style. Spanning warm, sunlit neutrals to deeper, forest-inspired hues, the palette is designed to create a balanced and cohesive look throughout the home.

For a light, open feel, Grounded complements warm beiges and soft neutrals, establishing a flowing foundation throughout the home.

To add warmth and dimension, muted pinks and clay tones layer seamlessly alongside it, while soft blues and blue-grays introduce an airy, calming contrast similar to sky and water.

For a more dramatic effect, moodier shades like plum and navy enhance Grounded’s depth, bringing a sense of sophistication whether used as accents or across larger surfaces.

The palette also reintroduces a selection of BEHR vault colors – including Coastal Beige, Wheat Grass, Environmental, Denim Light, Smokey Claret, Sarsaparilla, and Mozart. Each color was chosen to complement Grounded and offer fresh pairings with these classic favorites.
What types of projects can you use Grounded for?
Grounded is versatile enough to be used across a wide range of projects, from exterior applications to interior spaces.

On the outside of a home, it brings a natural presence that helps the exterior feel integrated with its surroundings. It can be used as a full-body color to create a moody, sophisticated look, or applied to shutters, front doors, trim, or siding accents for a more subtle statement. Paired with crisp whites or warm creams, Grounded feels classic and refined; alongside charcoal, black, or bronze details, it takes on a more modern, elevated edge. It also works beautifully with natural materials like wood, stone, brick, and copper, helping the home feel connected to the landscape while adding warmth and depth. On exteriors, Grounded brings a sense of permanence and calm, giving the home a grounded, welcoming presence that feels both timeless and current.

Indoors, Grounded shines in spaces like living rooms, where its rich tones transform gracefully with the shifting natural light throughout the day. In kitchens, it provides a warm and soothing backdrop, enhancing the comfort of daily life. It also works beautifully on kitchen cabinets or as an accent color, adding depth and sophistication to the heart of the home. Whether you’re designing an entire home or rejuvenating a single room, Grounded infuses spaces with a sense of warmth and effortless livability.
Why is Grounded a good option when selecting a paint color in 2027?
Grounded speaks to a broader design shift toward more personalized interiors, where richer tones help create spaces that feel expressive, layered, and individually tailored. As a sophisticated olive green with subtle brown undertones, Grounded delivers depth and dimension while offering a refined sense of warmth and comfort. It feels fresh and energizing during the day, then becomes richer and more enveloping in the evening, enhancing its versatility across a range of rooms and environments. With its balance of character, ease, and intentionality, Grounded gives DIYers and Pros a distinctive yet livable color choice for creating spaces that feel personal, polished, and deeply considered.
